Qualifications and work experience
I am originally from Brazil and completed extensive clinical training in my country of origin before moving to Aotearoa New Zealand nearly a decade ago.
I qualified with a Psychology degree BA (Psychology) in 2014 at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Mental Health Specialty between 2015 and 2017 at University Federal De Sao Paulo (UNIFESP). Later on in 2017, I immigrated to New Zealand and had a first hand experience of starting new as an immigrant.
In 2019 I registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board and initially worked supporting survivors of sexual harm with both acute and chronic symptoms of trauma and PTSD. A chance to work with youth and family brought me to Nelson in 2020 to join the team at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for a few years. More recently, I have been working with those challenged by chronic pain, trauma associated with injuries and providing psychological rehabilitation following physical injury. In my private practice I work with adults from all walks of life, delivering both brief interventions and long term therapy. I speak fluent English and Portuguese and have a sound understanding of Spanish.
I am registered with New Zealand Psychologist Board, registration number 90-07269. I am also member of the New Zealand Psychological Society.
I completed Basic Training in EMDR. Learn more about it here
My pronouns are she and her.
In my spare time I enjoy growing veggies in my garden, try my hand with sourdough bread baking and with woodwork projects. I recharge my energy when I spend time in nature with loved ones and I dream of a life built around principles of sustainability.
